Great Lawn at UHMC Saturday mornings or Makawao Union Church Wednesday afternoons.
Foundations
This session of classes will introduce the Basic Skills of sit, down, stay (wait), come, and loose leash walking. Handlers will also learn the basic concepts of positive reinforcement training and strategies to maximize success in their partnership with their pup. Dogs aged 4 months and up are welcome.

Team Building
In this session of classes, we will take all the Basics to the next level, increasing the distraction level along with longer duration and decreased distance. Our goal will be to enhance clear communication and increase understanding within the dog and handler team. Dogs should have completed at least one formal group training class in Basic skills before registering for this class.

Out & Aboutings
This series of classes will focus on socialization and developing skills and fine-tuning teamwork while in distracting and novel environments. Our goals will be to support teams while they interact with the world at large, with an end result of the handler advocating for their dog’s comfort & safety
Teams need to be pre-approved to attend these outings; please speak with Melodie. This class will be limited to 5 teams each session.

All classes are held outdoors and are a series of 5 classes (except the CGC). The first Foundations class is a dog handling workshop and intro to positive strategies for training (no dogs, please). This workshop is required for all new students.
